Foundation for Relief & Reconciliation in the Middle East

“The dialogue that we are involved in is always in situations of war. So it is never just sitting down and saying nice things to each other…” Andrew White

The Foundation of Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East (FRRME) is a non-profit organisation and a registered UK charity. FRRME promotes and develops conflict resolution and reconciliation in the Middle East. We specialise in conflict where there is a religious component to the violence. We work with Religious and Political leaders from the Middle East, the United States and Europe. We also provide humanitarian relief and economic rejuvenation in areas where conflict has caused poverty and hardship.

FRRME exists to support the unique work and relationships of Canon Andrew White. The relationships that Andrew White and his Middle Eastern staff have with our various contacts in the Middle East are the basis of all our work. Our staff are on the ground in the Middle East, and operations are directed from our UK headquarters. The nature of the work requires back-up be available every day and night. This is provided by the small but capable UK team.

Our work is guided by core principles:

1.     All Political Peace Tracks in the Middle East benefit from corresponding Religious Peace Initiatives in order to ensure lasting peace settlements.

2.     Any Religious Peace Track needs to be owned jointly by each of the major faiths present in the region.

3.     The Religious Peace processes need to engage both the senior leadership and the grassroots of a community in order to be fully effective.

4.     Economic hardship is a major cause of persistent instability in conflict-ridden societies. Reconciliation must therefore actively involve relieving those in need at the grassroots level.
